Sue Guynn Healthy Outlook — Exercise tips for the toes

November 3rd, 2009

Dr. Howard Osterman, a spokesman for the American Podiatric Medical Association in Bethesda, said in the case of YogaToes, yes, it can help.

“It can be helpful in the early stages of hammertoe to maintain alignment and keep toes straight,” Osterman said. In the early stages, hammertoes are flexible and will respond to the therapeutic device.

Hammertoe is a bending of the toe at the first joint. It’s more common in women than men and is the result of an abnormal balance of the muscles in the toes — weak muscles of the arch and tight muscles of the calf, Osterman said. Wearing high heels… Read More @ http://www.fredericknewspost.com/sections/news/reporters_notebooks_display.htm?StoryID=97285

Doctors Love YogaToes!

October 22nd, 2009

“I recommend YogaToes to all my patients that suffer from bunions and hammertoes. I believe YogaToes are indispensable for foot health. Who couldn’t benefit from them?”

Dr. Scheerer

- Dr. John F. Scheerer, MD

“Regular use of YogaToes may resolve and prevent common foot problems like hallux varus and hammer toe.”

– Dr. Ben Kim. www.DrBenKim.com. Ontario, Canada

What the expert says: “I really like YogaToes,” Dr. Carol Frey told me. Seeing as Dr. Frey is assistant clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at UCLA, as well as co-director and West Coast Sports Medicine Foundation director of orthopedic foot and ankle surgery in Manhattan Beach, Calif., I figure she knows what she’s talking about.

Still, Frey didn’t learn about YogaToes at some high falutin’ foot doctor convention, but from her patients. YogaToes are perfect for the foot-strengthening exercises Frey prescribes for her patients –  much better than the pedicure toe separators she had been using. “And you can use them hot or cold,” added Dr. Frey, who has used chilled YogaToes on post-operative patients.

Fray says YogaToes are helpful in preventing or relieving mild corns or bunion pain, especially for those who wear tight shoes or high heels which squeeze the feet into unnatural positions. YogaToes would not be helpful for those suffering from moderate to severe foot pain or deformities, she added. http://doesitwork.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/05/27/1945258.aspx

Funny Looking Yoga Toes

October 14th, 2009

“Now, to me toes are toes – they are better left unseen, they really belong under socks which should be covered by shoes. Generally, I find that most toes are pretty ugly to look at and are best left unseen. To me, they are really just kind of ‘neutral’ like elbows - not really something that we should draw attention to”…. Read more here: http://upwardog.wordpress.com/

YogaToes Review

October 14th, 2009

The Strategy of Yoga Toes

“Our feet absorb a great deal of stress through general daily activity and full-body exercising. Try as we might to follow the recommendation of changing our jogging shoes every six months or 500 miles, or avoid wearing those high heels, most of the time, we just don’t think about our feet, much less exercise them.

This device intends to break the muscle memory and help feet by increasing circulation, stretching tendons to alleviate tension and expanding bone mobility. Its design and stretching exercises follow many of the basic principles used in rehabilitating physical therapy. Painful
conditions such as sciatica, hammertoes, plantar fasciatis, bunions and fallen arches will be greatly reduced with regular use.”
